Divine Justice
Astral, is a confessional piece I shared last year in
front of “The Wings”, a paper installation made by Helen Santana”; as part of the Luna Loba Performance series,
curated by Shey Rivera. It has since
morphed into an exploration of the concept of Divine Justice.
I come from a family of intensely creative women whose
faith is unwavering. I have often being
caught in the intersection of faith and art.
Art as a way of healing and traveling through the dark times I have
faced. From the conception, the work of
the artist starts with an idea so deeply rooted in our creative self, that only
we can see it and believe in it. In that respect, to me, every work of art is a
work of faith. The artist then becomes an executor of faith. This picture was taken by the brilliant
photographer, and friend Giovanni Savino, whose work and passion for his craft,
I deeply admire. As Giovanni understands
it “We are just two people, with a wooden camera between them, celebrating the
mystery of the universe.”
Astral,
es una confesión a modo de performance que compartí el año pasado en frente de
la instalación de papel llamada "Las alas", de la artista Helen
Santana; como parte de la serie de performance Luna Loba, curada por Shey
Rivera. Desde entonces, este
performance, se ha transformado en una
exploración del concepto de la Justicia Divina.
Vengo de
una familia de mujeres intensamente creativas, cuya fe es inquebrantable. A menudo me he encontrado en la intersección
de la fe y el arte. El arte como una
manera de sanar y viajar a través de los tiempos difíciles que me han tocado
vivir. Desde la concepción, el trabajo
del artista empieza con una idea tan arraigada en nuestro yo creativo, que sólo
nosotros podemos verla y creer en ella. En ese sentido, para mí, toda obra de
arte es una obra de fe. El artista se
convierte, entonces, en un albacea de la fe.
Estas imágenes fueron tomadas por el brillante fotógrafo y amigo
Giovanni Savino, cuyo trabajo y pasión por su oficio, admiro profundamente. Como lo dijo Giovanni “Somos dos personas,
con una cámara de madera de entre los dos, celebrando el misterio del
universo.”
